Facial Spasms

Eyelid twitches happen to everyone at one time or another. These can be caused by stress, fatigue, eye strain, dry eyes, alcohol or caffeine, allergies and more. While they can be annoying, they are usually temporary.

Unfortunately, some people have chronic eyelid and facial spasms that interfere with their daily lives. These spasms can be grouped into two types:

  • Blepharospasm: involuntary eyelid squinting, blinking
  • Hemifacial spasms: uncontrollable facial muscle spasms on one side of the face

After a thorough exam of your unique situation, Dr. Daniel Sines may recommend BOTOX® injections to treat your spasms. By relaxing the facial or eyelid muscles through BOTOX injections, patients can achieve physical and emotional relief for up to 4 months.

If facial or eyelid spasms are causing you distress, contact our office today to schedule a Consultation.
