Surgery & Laser Center

The BoozmanHof Eye Surgery and Laser Center opened on April 1, 1996, as the first ophthalmic surgery center in NW Arkansas.

Since that date there have been 40,000 patients and over 25,000 cataract procedures performed as the most common eye procedure performed at the center. Other eye procedures performed include refractive such as Lasek and ICL (implantable collamer lens), glaucoma procedures, corneal transplants including penetrating and DSEK (descemets stripping endothelial keratoplasy), YAG laser, and various ophthalmic plastic procedures.

Glaucoma procedures include trabeculectomy filtering surgery, tube shunts, and other advanced procedures such as canaloplasty and trabectome.

A comprehensive system of infection prophylaxis was developed and has been utilized since the center opened in 1996, and has resulted in only one infection or endophthalmitis after cataract/IOL procedures in the entire period. This is one of the best records in the entire industry, and papers have been written and courses taught regarding this system at various international meetings.

The center has one of the finest staffs of dedicated registered nurses that can be found anywhere, and they take great pride in conscientious, quality care. Patients often comment that after coming through a surgical procedure at the center, they have never had such a positive and relatively pleasant experience previously.

The center partnered with Amsurg in January 2002. Amsurg is headquartered in Nashville, TN, and is the largest publicly traded owner and operator of surgery centers.
