Lens treatments can minimize or eliminate potential hazards to healthy sight such as scratches, glare and ultraviolet rays. A lens treatment is a special additive that either bonds with the lens or is built into the lens during the lens manufacturing process. Lens treatments are available as individual additions to lenses and are also commonly bundled into single lens products for convenience and maximum benefit to your eyes.
Types of Lens Treatments
- Scratch Resistance Treatment: All of our lenses come with a scratch resistance treatment built right onto the surface of the lens.
- Ultraviolet (UV) Protection: The UV rays in sunlight can be harmful to the eyes. Lenses that block 100% UV help ward off various eye conditions and damage. Plastic lenses do not come with UV protection but most all other lenses do.
- Anti-Reflective (AR) Treatment: For fashion, comfort and clarity, anti-reflective treatments are the way to go. They make the lens nearly invisible and cut glare from headlights, computer screens and harsh overhead lighting.
PureCoat™ by ZEISS
PureCoat is an anti-reflective coating that can make your lenses clearer, more durable and more convenient to use.
- The unique blue hue of PureCoat reduces up to 50% more reflections than other leading AR coatings.
- The ultra-tough hard coat provides exceptional scratch resistance.
- Anti-static technology includes a long-lasting, super-slick coating sealant that resists oil, water droplets, smudges and dirt.
Transitions everyday lenses can help you through your busy day. This dynamic eyewear is designed to be worn indoors and to automatically adapt when outdoors to give you a more comfortable viewing experience while protecting your eyes from damaging UV light.

To protect your eyes from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun, it is important to wear some type of protection when outside. We suggest that sunglasses be worn whenever possible. Some frames now have optional attachable sunglass “clips.” Additionally, we offer polarized lenses which shelter your eyes from sun glare. By reducing glare off of water and snow, they also ensure reliable vision even when blinding light presents a dangerous situation.
For contact lens wearers or those who do not need prescription eyewear, BoozmanHof Optical offers a large selection of non-prescription sunglasses. These sunglasses are of the highest quality and competitively priced with other providers and retail outlets.

Using Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts to Save on Lenses
If your employer offers a Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account, these can be used to help you save money on health expenses not covered by insurance. These plans allow you to put aside part of your pre-tax earnings in a tax-free account to use for items like prescription eyeglasses, prescription sunglasses and contact lenses. Some plans also allow you to use your Flex money for eye exams and co-payments.
Before you enroll in your plan, make sure you fully understand all of the rules of the plan, making sure your specific plan will cover these expenses. Then determine how much money to allocate to your account – you will have to use your saved money before the time limit runs out or you may lose it.
