Robert Hogan Knox, MD is a board certified, glaucoma fellowship trained ophthalmologist specializing in cataracts and glaucoma. His surgical expertise encompasses cataract surgery, complex cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries, trabeculectomy, shunts, and diode laser.

Originally from Fort Smith, Arkansas, Dr. Hogan Knox’s medical journey has been characterized by a pursuit of clinical excellence and a commitment to quality patient care. His passion for medicine was ignited at the age of fourteen during a medical mission trip to Haiti, where he witnessed the transformative impact healthcare professionals can have on communities, especially those in need. Graduating from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2015, Dr. Knox completed his residency in Ophthalmology at UAB in 2019, followed by a glaucoma fellowship at the same institution in 2020. During his tenure at UAB Callahan, he served as an Assistant Professor for resident education and Assistant Fellowship Director for the glaucoma fellowship.

Dr. Knox’s philosophy of care revolves around establishing trust and fostering open communication with his patients. He believes in personalized care that considers each patient’s individual medical, social, economic, and cultural background. Through empathy and a patient centric approach, Dr. Knox ensures that every patient feels empowered and involved in their healthcare decisions. He emphasizes the importance of a collaborative patient-physician relationship, offering personalized education and compassionate support.

In his personal life, Dr. Knox enjoys a variety of hobbies, including mountain biking, playing guitar, rock climbing, golfing, and reading nonfiction books. He also finds fulfillment in engaging in DIY house projects. Dr. Knox is happily married to his high school sweetheart, Molly Knox, and together they have two sons and a daughter.
